How to look TV with TVU Player

TVU networks offers a free global live TV service that you can watch on your Windows PC over a broadband Internet connection. This service is dedicated to bringing you TV that you can't get from cable or satellite, such as news and sports from around the world.

The TVU service is accessed with a free downloadable Windows application, the TVUPlayer, which is available here. In the first year of service, the TVUPlayer has already been downloaded over 7 million times.

TVU uses a new broadcast technology called Real-Time Packet Replication. With this technology, all the viewers who are watching a channel at the same time are cooperating to give everyone the best possible signal. TVU's application does not create any new files on your hard disk because you're watching live TV.

Unlike typical Internet video broadcasts that use the older streaming technology, TVU's broadcasters do not need to dedicate more bandwidth for each additional user. This allows broadcasters to reach very large numbers of viewers at low cost. Because TVU can have an unlimited number of channels, TVU offers broadcasters opportunities denied to them by cable and satellite systems. Local broadcasters become global broadcasters; new channels can find a broadcast slot; and bigger broadcasters can create new channels to showcase content that they own but don't have space to broadcast on their existing channels.

Most exciting of all, viewers can become broadcasters using TVU networks' free Broadcast application. This application, combined with a standard-grade PC and a typical broadband Internet connection, allows anybody to become a broadcaster. This basic set-up allows any number of viewers world-wide to watch your channel.

Dreambox is not illegal!

Dreambox is not illegal!
Dream welcomes Kudelski’s proceedings against hackers

Lünen, 10. April 2007. Dream, the leading producer of Linux-based set-top boxes, clearly distances itself from the implied allegation of supporting Pay-TV piracy. Neither the Dreamboxes as such, nor their sale nor possession are in any way illegal. At the same time, Dream distances itself from the illegal doings of Pay-TV hackers, who develop or distribute illegal software or smartcards.

In Switzerland, the Kudelski Group, the holding company of Nagravision, which provides the encryption system for Cablecom and Teleclub, has instituted legal proceedings against two merchants who are alleged to have offered for sale hacker smartcards for the illegal reception of the encrypted channels. Dream expressly supports the proceedings against Pay-TV hackers and welcomes any initiative designed to reduce or eliminate illegal viewing.

However, reports in Switzerland on Kudelski’s proceedings to counter Pay-TV piracy have also raised doubts in the minds of Dreambox owners who use their receiver exclusively for legal purposes. For this reason, Dream will itself institute legal proceedings against any person claiming the Dreambox is an illegal receiving unit. Quite clearly, the problem lies not with the Dreamboxes, but with the illegal software patches and smartcards.

What Dream Multimedia sets out to do is to open up the many options and possibilities of digital television to its customers. Using an optional hard drive, TV programmes can be recorded in digital quality. Likewise, the popular Timeshift function which enables you to view programmes at the time it suits you, is another option provided. The Ethernet interface turns the receiver box into a powerful server for the home entertainment network. In addition, the Dreambox can be connected to the Internet.

Dream spokesperson Alpaslan Karasu: “We want to expressly distance ourselves from any kind of Pay-TV piracy. We will institute legal proceedings against anybody claiming the Dreambox is an illegal receiver.”

Some Satellites Dish Installtion Picture

Picture from: Flickr
This is picture from Laos. I like this picture because satellites TV realy worldwide. Not only for rich country or small country. And you can do by yourself.

What is FTA ( Free To Air)

FTA in satellites come from Free To Air. FTA is TV and radio broadcasts are sent unencrypted and may be received via any suitable receiver. FTA is usually delivered by satellite television, but in various parts of the world with encrypted digital terrestrial television channels it is broadcast on UHF or VHF bands.

Although these channels are described as free, the viewer does in fact pay for them. Some are paid directly by payment of a licence fee (as in the case of the BBC) or voluntary donation (in the case of educational broadcasters like PBS), others indirectly by paying for consumer products and services where part of the cost goes toward television advertising and sponsorship (in the case of Japanese television broadcasters like TV Asahi and TV Tokyo which relies on sponsorship heavily).

Free-to-air is often used for international broadcasting. It is television's equivalent to shortwave radio.

What is Satellites

Satellite is an object which has been placed into orbit by human endeavor. Such objects are sometimes called artificial satellites to distinguish them from natural satellites such as the Moon.

The first artificial satellite was Sputnik 1, launched by the Soviet Union on 4 October 1957. This triggered the Space Race between the Soviet Union and the United States.

In May, 1946, Project RAND had released the Preliminary Design of an Experimental World-Circling Spaceship, which stated, "A satellite vehicle with appropriate instrumentation can be expected to be one of the most potent scientific tools of the Twentieth Century.[4] The United States had been considering launching orbital satellites since 1945 under the Bureau of Aeronautics of the United States Navy. The United States Air Force's Project RAND eventually released the above report, but did not believe that the satellite was a potential military weapon; rather, they considered it to be a tool for science, politics, and propaganda. In 1954, the Secretary of Defense stated, "I know of no American satellite program."

On July 29, 1955, the White House announced that the U.S. intended to launch satellites by the spring of 1958. This became known as Project Vanguard. On July 31, the Soviets announced that they intended to launch a satellite by the fall of 1957.

Following pressure by the American Rocket Society, the National Science Foundation, and the International Geophysical Year, military interest picked up and in early 1955 the Air Force and Navy were working on Project Orbiter, which involved using a Jupiter C rocket to launch a satellite. The project succeeded, and Explorer 1 became the United States' first satellite on January 31, 1958.

The largest artificial satellite currently orbiting the Earth is the International Space Station.

What is DreamBox

The Dreambox is a Linux-powered DVB satellite, terrestrial and cable digital television decoder (set-top box), produced by German multimedia vendor Dream Multimedia. Its firmware is officially user-upgradable, since it is a Linux-based computer, as opposed to third-party "patching" of alternate receivers. All units support Dream's own DreamCrypt conditional access (CA) system, with software-emulated CA Modules (CAMs) available for many alternate CA systems. The Dreambox is very simlar to the DBox2 units distributed by Kirch Media for its pay-TV services before its bankruptcy; it uses the same Linux-based software originally developed for the DBox2. The built-in Ethernet interface allows networked computers to access the recordings on the internal hard disks on some Dreambox models. It also enables the receiver to store digital copies of DVB transport streams on networked filesystems or broadcast the streams as IPTV to VideoLAN clients. Unlike many PC based PVR systems that use free-to-air type of DVB receiver cards the built-in conditional access allows receiving and storing encrypted content.

The combination of third-party developers and network connectivity which facilitates card sharing, makes Dreambox use particularly common among enthusiasts and those who intend to obtain services without payment. Third-party software for this purpose is neither officially endorsed nor supported by Dream Multimedia and voids the official warranty; however, unofficial web sites support a large community of enthusiasts.

What is "Crypt" - 1

This shows the encryption method(s) in use by the channel.
Encrypted channels are deliberately scrambled, so that a special decryption device is needed to watch - or listen - to programming. In analogue technology, encrypting a television channel is mostly done by putting the video lines into a different order.
Digital transmissions can be encrypted in a wide variety of ways. Usually, a special card (similar in size to a credit card) has to be inserted into a satellite receiver, often in conjunction with a Conditional Access Module (CAM). This card contains the code to decrypt signal. Those cards are only available from the programmer, in most cases at a price (pay-tv). In some cases the cards are available free to certain citizens only, to restrict an otherwise free channel's availability to certain geographical areas (Continue...)
